Frederick Ogden Nash was an American poet known for his light verse. He wrote more than 500 pieces and was called, at the time, by the New York Times, "the countries best-known producer of humorous poetry."

The book is a comprehensive anthology of Nash's best early poems, selected and revised by the author. These poems are drawn from 6 previously published works: I'm a Stranger Here Myself (1938) Good Intentions (1942) Many Long Years Ago (1945) [composed of selections from 4 out-of-print titles: Hard Lines (1931), Free Wheeling (1931), Happy Days (1933) & Primrose Path (1935)] Versus (1949) The Private Dining Room (1953) You Can't Get There from Here (1957).
