Both the unclipped dust jacket, in a mylar protective wrapper, and hardcover are in Very Good+ condition. Has the original price 5/- net listed on the spine. No writing or markings in this well preserved edition, 119 pp.

The work is a series of love letters written to a married woman who is visiting Rome. An anonymous narrator states his intention to commit suicide because he anticipates being found out in a financial scandal.

This was one of three works written collaboratively by Conrad and Hueffer (Ford). This was the last of three collaborations between both authors. Though it was written in 1906 and appeared in a magazine, it was not published in book form until soon after Conrad's death.
