TE Lawrence. First edition. Limited edition, 939/1000 copies printed. New York: Doubleday and Company, 1955. In a Very Good slipcase, some foxing on cover. Hardcover is in Very Good+ condition, spine has fading otherwise, no writing or markings found in the book, 250 pp.

This is a rare First Edition Thus of The Mint by T.E. Lawrence, published in 1955 by Doubleday & Co. Limited to only 1,000 numbered copies, this is No. 939, preserved in its original slipcase.

The Mint is Lawrence’s unvarnished account of his service in the Royal Air Force, a raw, controversial, and deeply personal text. Originally withheld from general publication due to its frank language, this limited printing stands as a cornerstone of Lawrence collecting.

  • Publisher: Doubleday & Co., New York, 1955
  • Edition: First Edition Thus, Limited Printing (#939/1000)
  • Format: Hardcover in original slipcase
  • Condition:
    • Book: Very Good+ to Near Fine — clean boards, bright gilt, tight binding
    • Slipcase: Good — complete and sturdy but with foxing, toning, and stains to paper label and outer boards (see photos)
  • A desirable Lawrence collectible — complete and numbered.

Unlike the trade edition, the Limited Edition contains Lawrence's dirty words in this account of the time he worked in the Royal Air Force under an alias. A nice copy of this rare work, American limited edition copy.
