William Dana Orcutt. First edition, second printing. Boston: Little, Brown and Company, 1927. Both price-clipped dust jacket (in a mylar wrapper) and hardcover are in Very Good condition. There is a small chip on both the spine of the jacket and hardcover. Other than writing on rear end paper, there are no additional markings or writing found in the book, 290 pp.

A foundational work on the history, culture, and craftsmanship of books, The Kingdom of Books reflects William Dana Orcutt’s lifelong dedication to typography and fine printing. Orcutt—best known as the founder of the Plimpton Press—offers essays and reflections that examine books not only as vessels of text, but as physical objects shaped by design, materials, and tradition.

This copy is offered in Very Good condition. The hardcover and dust jacket both show a small chip at the spine, consistent with age. The dust jacket is price-clipped and housed in a protective mylar wrapper. There is writing on the rear endpaper, with no other interior markings. The text remains clean and complete throughout.

An appealing copy for collectors interested in book history, typography, fine printing, and the philosophy of books, and a natural fit for any serious bibliophile’s shelf.
