The Enemy Stars
Poul Anderson. First edition, later printing (BCE). Dust Jacket: Very Good. A price-clipped jacket (missing $2.50) designed by children's author and artist Eric Carle. Jacket has wear and tear, the spine is faded but fully intact. Hardcover: Very Good. Philadelphia and New York: J.B. Lippincott, 1958. No writing or markings in the book, 191 pp. Blue cloth with red lettering on spine (missing blue rocketship on cover). Nominated for a Hugo award in 1959. Previous owner's signature on front free endpaper and a sticker on the flyleaf.
The true first edition, first printing has "1959" above publishers name on title page, and "First Edition" on copyright, this copy does not have either. The only date (1958) is on the copyright page. Most likely a BCE but no mention of it anywhere?
An expansion of his magazine novella "We have Fed Our Sea." A hard sci-fi yarn of space exploration via matter transmitter. Considered one of Anderson's more elusive books and among the best of his early novels.
