The author's memories of Bismarck and the era, as WW1 begins; inscribed by author. Poultney Bigelow (1855-1954) traveled extensively, and wrote often on the subject. His father served as U.S. Consul in Paris. He worked for a number of American publications and The Times, and was founder of Outing, the first magazine dedicated to amateur sport.
