Conrad Aiken. First edition, first printing. Cambridge: Harvard University Press, 1957. Both unclipped dust jacket and hardcover are in Very Good condition. No writing or markings in the book, 83 pp. Jacket has some chipping on the edges.
A presentable copy of a scarce play, adapted by Aiken from his own short story, his best and most famous horror story, with the same title.
"The best of his poetry is contained in Selected Poems (1929), which won the Pilitzer Prize for poetry in 1930, and Collected Poems (1953), including a long sequence “Preludes to Definition,” which some critics consider his masterwork, and the often anthologized “Morning Song of Senlin.” Aiken served as the poetry consultant to the Library of Congress from 1950 to 1952."
