Set in Bimini in the 1930's, Islands tells the story of Thomas Hudson, a sculptor, with a passion for the sea, fishing and ultimately protecting the Gulf Stream waters from Nazi submariners. Islands in the Stream encompasses three stories to illustrate different stages in the life of its main character, Thomas Hudson: "Bimini", "Cuba", and "At Sea".
Begun by Hemingway in 1950, Islands in the Stream is the first of his posthumously published fictional work. Hoping to revive his reputation through the release of new material found incomplete within his bank vault, Hemingway's children began to collaborate with editors who could piece together three fragments for publication in novel form.
