A collection of Lewis Carroll’s poems and short tales, collated from his previously-published works, accompanied with hilarious black-and-white sketches by cartoonist H. M. Bateman. Each story or poem is prefaced by the background and explanation of the work, written by the editor of the book, Langford Reed.

Carroll's most notable works are Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1865) and its sequel Through the Looking-Glass (1871).
