The first of Larry McCurtry's Pulitzer Prize winning Lonesome Dove tetralogy, "showcasing McCurtry's talent for breathing new life into the vanished American West through two of the most memorable heroes in contemporary fiction . . . succeeds marvelously . . . resurrecting two brilliantly conceived characters and delivering a rousing tale of the Wild West." ~Michael Berry, San Francisco Chronicle

The author, Larry McMurtry, is a renowned novelist and bibliophile, who at the time of this book release, had published 19 books. This book is part of his Dead Man's Walk series.
