Isaac Rosenfeld. First edition (stated). New York: The World Publishing Company, 1962. Both unclipped dust jacket, in a mylar protective wrapper, and hardcover are in Very Good+ condition. There is some chipping on top of spine. No writing or markings in this well preserved copy, 347 pp. Edited and introduced by Theodore Solotaroff. A wonderful foreword written by the great Saul Bellow.

Rosenfeld was a amazing writer but left us too early, at the age of thirty-six. He was part of a brillant group of young intellectuals at the University of Chicago in the thirties. "For him, literature, thought, ideals, and politics were as much a part of life as eating." This book is a collection of the best of his writing that was featured in Partisan Review, The New Republic, and Commentary. Includes an expose' of The New Yorker magazine mentality to "what is possibly the most revealing analysis of Mahatma Ghandhi that has yet been written." Hemingway, Richard Wright, Miller, Orwell, and Faulkner are discussed with "unique penetration."
