Ernest Hemingway. First edition, first printing. New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1950. Both inclipped dust jacket and hardcover are in Very Good and Very Good+ condition, respectively. No writing or markings found in the book, 308 pp. There is chipping on spine and edges and a few small areas of separation on the dust jacket. A small former bookstore sticker is on the back flyleaf page.

A true first edition of Hemingway’s controversial post-WWII novel, Across the River and Into the Trees. Published in 1950 by Charles Scribner’s Sons, this is the first printing with the Scribner “A” and seal on the copyright page.

This VG+ copy features the original unclipped dust jacket, showing the $3.00 price. Jacket displays light edgewear with notable chipping to spine ends and corners, as commonly seen. The vivid jacket artwork—one of the most striking of Hemingway’s works—remains sharp and bold.

The book itself is clean and tight, with no internal markings. A strong collectible example of Hemingway’s late-career novel exploring mortality, war, and lost love in postwar Venice.

A must for Hemingway collectors, and a worthy shelf companion to The Old Man and the Sea and For Whom the Bell Tolls.
