Written by Ocampo in French in 1942, this English translation by David Garnett includes additional notes of the Spanish translation published in 1963, together with an introduction by Lawrence's brother Professor A. W. Lawrence, in which he states: "Victoria Ocampo has given the most profound and the best-balanced of all portraits of my brother."
