This edition is the first time these 24 stories have been publicly available since the original publication in 1922.
Robert McAlmon (1896-1956) founded the literary press Contact Editions in the 1920's and was good friends with Ernest Hemingway. They traveled together to Ronda, Spain to Hemingway's to see his first bullfight. McAlmon published Hemingway's debut work, Three Stories and Ten Poems (1923), through Contact Editions. McAlmon also published works by Gertrude Stein, James Joyce, and Ezra Pound. In his memoir, McAlmon recalled that Joyce said these stories reminded him of his own Dubliners and suggested the title A Hasty Bunch.
McAlmon's other works include the novel Post-Adolescence (1923), the short story collections A Hasty Bunch (1922) and Distinguished Air: Grim Fairy Tales (1925), and the memoir Being Geniuses Together (1938).
