Vladimir Nabokov. First American edition, first printing. NAP. New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1950 (but 1958). The unclipped first state dust jacket is in Very Good condition, with a small piece missing on top of spine and a small tear at the bottom. The original price $5.00 is still intact on inside flap. This is a first state dust jacket that does not have the "complete and unabridged" statement on the lower front panel. Jacket shows light shelfwear, with rubbing and toning. Hardcover is in Near Fine condition. Beautiful red endpapers. No writing or markings found in the book, 319 pp. Photograph of Nabokov by Maclean Dameron.
Nabokov was also known as Vladimir Sirin early in his career (1920's - 1940's). "From 1948 to 1959, Nabokov was a professor of Russian literature at Cornell University. His 1955 novel Lolita ranked fourth on Modern Library's list of the 100 best 20th century novels in 2007 and is considered one of the greatest works of 20th-century literature.
