The book, 'Advertisements for Myself' is a collection of Norman Mailer's works over the years. The book includes short stories, articles, essays, short novels, and other forms, but it is a collection unlike others, for its separate pieces are woven together by an autobiographical narrative which is startling in the candor of its confession." The book includes the famous essay "The White Negro," as well as excerpts from Barbary Shore.
This was Mailer's 5th book. He was also a two time Pulitzer Prize winner.
