Morale boosting World War 2 poem/story. It tells the story of an American girl who comes to visit England for a week, falls in love, loses her husband in WW I, realizes England is now home. But, when war again threatens she fears the loss of her son in the manner of his father and realizes she must choose.
A very popular book back in 1940, was originally published in September 16th and was reprinted four times December alone. The book was read over the radio on two separate occasions. The motion picture The White Cliffs of Dover (1944) was adapted from the story.
