John Updike. First edition (stated). New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1987. Both unclipped dust jacket, in a mylar protective wrapper, and hardcover in Near Fine condition. No writing or markings in this sturdy edition, 302 pp.
A collection of short stories exploring themes of trust and betrayal. The book is near fine, with a tight binding and looks to be an unread book. There were 350 copies signed by the author prior to this first release. Includes twoenty-two of Updike's short stories, displaying the essence of life seen through a master's eye. Titles include "Still of Some Use"; "Deaths of Distant Friends"; "Pygmalion"; "More Stately Mansions"; "The Ideal Village"; and "Made in Heaven". This was Updike's 31th book and 9th book of short stories.
