Miller's masterpiece was first published in Paris in 1939. The book was banned in the U.S. until the 1961 printing. This important 20th century work of literature is known for its candid depiction of sexuality.
It was the United States Justice Department who banned the original editions of both A Tropic of Cancer and A Tropic of Capricorn. In 1964, the US Supreme Court finally declared these works non-obscene.
