George Inness, Jr. First edition. New York: Privately published, 1920. No dust jacket. Hardcover is in Very Good+ condition. No writing or markings found in the book, other than authors inscription in flyleaf page, 139 pp. The boards and spine are clean and tight with minimal wear. There’s a slight bump to one corner.
Random Thoughts is a slim, reflective volume written later in the authors life. It’s not a traditional memoir but rather a compilation of short philosophical, spiritual, and personal reflections—hence the title.
Inscription: This is a presentation copy, inscribed by George Inness, Jr. to Julia Thomson, dated February 29th, 1923 — a leap day inscription, which is quite rare and adds charm. Signed copies are scarce and desirable.
Though exact figures are hard to verify, it’s believed that only 100 to 150 copies were printed, possibly fewer. Many were likely distributed to friends, art patrons, and institutions rather than sold commercially.
George Inness, Jr. (1854–1926), was an American landscape painter and son of the renowned artist George Inness.
