"A collection of eight pieces, starting in 1988 with the election of the first Bush as president - pieces that create a portrait of the American political landscape that tells us, devastatingly, how we got where we are today. Of course, today things are far worse than they were 20 years ago when this was published, but we can still learn from her book." Would make great gift for readers or collectors of Joan Didion...a really interesting look at American neoliberal politics during the 80's and 90's.
