William Saroyan. Book club edition. First edition, later printing. New York: Harcourt, Brace and Company, 1940. Both unclipped dust jacket (no price on inside flap) and hardcover are in Very Good condition. No markings or writing found in the book, other than former owner signature on flyleaf page, 220 pp.

The story focuses on Aram Garoghlanian, a Native American, who is the central figure of William Saroyan's work. "This is the delightful story of a foreign-born American Tom Sawyer born in California thirty years ago, growing up in a lopsided and comic environment, and becoming both a full-fledged member of the incredible and amazing Garoghlanian tribe of Armenia and an excellent American Democrat. In addition to Aram, these stories introduce the reader to the greatest collection of Saroyan characters ever gathered together in one book."

William Saroyan (1908 - 1981) was an Armenian-American novelist, playwright and short story writer. He was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1940, and in 1943 won the Academy Award for Best Story.
