Burke tells the story of John Davis, a Confederate soldier who is buried in a makeshift grave with his comrades after the Battle of Gettysburg. Davis is haunted by the ghosts of the men he killed, and he begins to see the battlefield as a place of death and destruction. As Davis begins to heal the wounds of his past, he discovers that the Electric Mist with Confederate Dead is a place of healing and hope. This is the sixth detective Dave Robicheaux mystery.
