Ernest Hemingway. First edition (stated), first printing. New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1986. Both unclipped dust jacket and hardcover are in Near Fine condition. Jacket is in a mylar protective wrapper. No writing or markings in this clean, tight edition, 247 pp.

This posthumously published novel tells the story of a young American writer in Paris who has just published his second novel, is on an extended honeymoon on the French coast, the woman the couple is attracted to, and the erotic games the three of them play. The theme of bisexuality is the major reason this novel was published 24 years after Hemingway's death.

The book appears gently read and has no internal writing, no internal foxing, no remainder marks, no missing pages and is NOT Ex-Libris or a BCE. The binding is holding tight and the pages are still surprisingly crisp and clean! A true collectible.

The Garden of Eden is the last uncompleted novel of Ernest Hemingway, which he worked on intermittently from 1946 until his death in 1961. Hemingway worked on the manuscript for the next 15 years, during which time he also wrote The Old Man and the Sea, The Dangerous Summer, A Moveable Feast, and Islands in the Stream.

Basis for a 2008 adaptation by John Irvin, starring Jack Huston and Mena Suvari.
