New York: The Viking Press, 1971. Red/Grey cloth with design on front cover and red lettering on spine. Solid book, presents well with no markings or writing throughout the book, 380 pp. A book-of-the-month club selection.

This is the English novelist and journalist first book, which won an Edgar Award (1972). Like many of his books, this was also made into a political thriller movie in 1973.

Forsyth's first novel is a mystery-thriller tale about an assassin known only as "The Jackal." He evades authorities as he tracks his high-profile target. The author draws on his experience as a journalist covering the attempted assassination of French president Charles de Gaulle. Like the movie, a very suspenseful book!
