The jacket painting by Jack Hull has a small missing piece on front cover. No writing or markings in the book, 493 pp. Includes "City Boy" mentioned on back blurb about author. The 2nd edition dust jacket says "City Boy" on back flap while 1st says "The City Boy".

Overall, a nice copy of this scarce Pulitzer Prize winning novel for 1952 about conflict and mistrust aboard a Navy destroyer. An important entry in World War II fiction and the basis for the Oscar-nominated film starring Humphrey Bogart.
