Philip Johnson, John M. Jacobus. First edition, stated first printing. Inscribed by the author. Dust Jacket: Very Good. An unclipped jacket ($4.95) designed by Lustig and Reich. A small one inch tear in from jacket, as well chipping on front and spine.

Hardcover: Very Good+ New York: George Braziller, 1962. Black cloth with white spine and green lettering. There is some foxing on the spine. Other than the author inscription on flyleaf, no writing or markings in the book, 127 pp. This is a rare, collectable edition!

The inscriptions reads "To Al Abbott who suffered along with us for architecture, Philip Johnson, December, 1962." This may be the same Albert Abbott, who was a Lieutenant Colonel and London based architect who died in 1952 (I realize the date of inscription is 1962 but still highly possible).

The author, John M. Jacobus, Jr. (1927-2017) was an Asst. Professor at UCal Berkeley as well as Professor of Art History at Dartmouth College.

Philip Johnson (1906-2005) was an American architect best known for his works of modern and postmodern architecture. Among his best-known designs are his modernist Glass House in New Canaan, Connecticut. The New York Times wrote that his works "were widely considered among the architectural masterpieces of the 20th century."

The book is richly illustrated with black and white photography representing some of Johnson's most acclaimed creations.
