Erskine Caldwell. First edition (stated). New York: Duell, Sloan and Pearce, 1940. Both unclipped dust jacket and hardcover are in Very Good+ condition. Jacket is in a mylar protective wrapper. No writing or markings in the book, 756 pp. The top/bottom of spine has some chipping and a small piece missing. 

The author of Tobacco Road, has put together a wonderful collection of 75 short stories. His writings about poverty, racism and social problems in his native South won him critical acclaim, but they also made him controversial among fellow Southerners of the time.
