The first state dust jacket is in Good- condition with three missing pieces and inside flap removed. Joris Ivens photo of Hemingway taken in Spain on back. Hardcover is in Very Good condition. Spine cocked with an ex libris (Earle Y. Sullivan) pasted on inside cover along with his signature above. No additional writing or markings found in the book, 262 pp.
A solid copy of Hemingway’s only novel set largely in the United States, published in the pivotal year of 1937. This is the first edition, second printing, issued by Charles Scribner’s Sons, New York. The first printing had a print run of only 10,300 copies.
