Ernest Hemingway. Stated first edition, first printing. New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1986. Both unclipped dust jacket and hardcover are in Near Fine condition. The dust jacket, designed by Marek Antoniak, is covered in a mylar protective wrapper. Has the original price $18.95 on inside flap. No writing or markings in this well-preserved copy, 247 pp. Cover painting "Women with a Basket" (1927) by Juan  Gris.

A Near Fine tight copy in a bright unclipped dust jacket. This posthumously published novel tells the story of a young American writer in Paris who has just published his second novel, is on an extended honeymoon on the French coast, the woman the couple is attracted to, and the erotic games the three of them play. The theme of bisexuality is the major reason this novel was published 24 years after Hemingway's death. The true test of the worthiness of this work of fiction is that the story, the characters and the writing hold up as a work by Hemingway.

A glimpse of the true Hemingway is finally seen in this slightly shocking, posthumous novel begun in 1946 and worked on until his death in 1961.
