TE Lawrence. First American Trade edition, second printing. New York: Doubleday, Doran and Comoany, 1936. Both price-clipped dust jacket (in a Mylar wrapper) and hardcover are in Very Good+ condition. No writing or markings found in this well-preserved edition, 672 pp.
A rare opportunity for collectors: this is a First American Trade Edition (1936) — Second Printing — of Seven Pillars of Wisdom by T. E. Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia), published by Doubleday & Doran, New York.
- Condition: VG+ (very good plus) overall. The binding is sound, pages are intact, and there is no major damage. Minor shelf wear is consistent with age.
- Dust Jacket: The jacket is present but price-clipped. It shows modest edge wear, a few small chips and some toning, but remains fully intact and attractive.
- Edition & Printing: This is not the UK Cape first trade edition; this is the American trade edition, second printing, which is collectible in its own right.

Collectors’ Notes:
- Seven Pillars of Wisdom is one of the great 20th-century works, chronicling Lawrence’s role in the Arab Revolt during World War I.
- The American trade editions, especially early printings, are more scarce than typical reprints.
- Because the jacket is clipped, the value will be affected (collectors generally prefer unclipped jackets).
Why This Copy Stands Out
- It is uncommon to find a 1936 trade copy in this condition with its original jacket (even clipped).
- The fairly good dust jacket, despite wear, offers visual appeal and completeness.
- For many collectors, the combination of condition and completeness adds significant premium over generic copies.
