A highly collectible stated first edition, first printing of James Dickey’s landmark novel Deliverance, published by Houghton Mifflin.

One of the most influential American novels of the twentieth century, Deliverance explores survival, masculinity, and the conflict between civilization and the natural world. It inspired the acclaimed 1972 film, starring Jon Voight and Burt Reynolds, remains James Dickey’s best-known work.

An additional highlight is the iconic dust jacket designed by celebrated book designer Paul Bacon, whose instantly recognizable work has become highly collectible in its own right. The rear panel features an author photograph by Christopher Dickey.

An increasingly desirable modern first edition, this handsome copy would make an excellent addition to any collection of twentieth-century American literature, Southern fiction, modern first editions, or notable dust jacket design.
