This was the authors third novel. The story of a young 18 year old married women during World War I. Her young husband goes off to war, ten days after their wedding, only to come home with his face wounded horribly. The wife "conquers her horrified revulsion at her young husband's mutilation in the superbly described climax of this memorable story."
Teresa de Kerpely didn't start writing until her 50's, first under a penname out of concern for family members in Eastern Europe, and then successfuly under her real name. This is an unusual copy in beng signed as "Teresa Kay."
